Concept:
Welcome to my review of the Sooprinse Foam Cannon, where I will look into the
features and performance of this essential tool for automotive detailing.
Is this one of the best budget foam cannons for pressure washers in 2025?
Can this compete with high end foam cannons? Let’s find out.
Introduction to Foam Cannons:
If you have linked directly here and have not read any of my other foam cannon reviews, or are new to foam cannons used for automotive detailing
here is a general overview.
A foam cannon is an essential tool for automotive detailing, connecting to a pressure washer to produce thick, clinging snow foam.
This rich foam blankets the vehicle, encapsulating dirt, grime, and contaminants for easy rinsing without direct contact.
By minimizing physical scrubbing, foam cannons significantly reduce the risk of swirl marks and marring, ensuring a safer, more efficient wash.
The even foam coverage reaches crevices and complex surfaces, delivering a professional-grade clean that enhances your vehicle's shine
while protecting its paint.
Automotive detailing enthusiasts aim to touch the vehicle as little as possible to avoid marring or swirling the paint.
By using a foam cannon, they can pre-soak the vehicle with foam, lifting contaminants off the surface.
This minimizes the need for physical scrubbing, significantly reducing the risk of scratches and paint damage.
The foam provides a lubricated barrier between the dirt and the paint, allowing for a safer and more efficient wash process.
Additionally, the even coverage of foam ensures that all areas of the vehicle are adequately cleaned, enhancing the overall
effectiveness of the detailing process.
Foam Cannon Benefits:
Using a foam cannon in automotive detailing offers several benefits:
1. Effective Cleaning: Foam cannons attempt to generate thick, clinging foam that encapsulates dirt and grime, lifting them off the surface for a more thorough clean.
2. Surface Protection: The foam acts as a lubricant, reducing the risk of scratches and swirl marks during the washing process.
3. Time Efficiency: Applying foam with a cannon is quicker and covers more area than traditional hand washing methods.
4. Even Coverage: Ensures an even distribution of soap, enhancing the cleaning process.
5. Enhanced Appearance: Produces a professional-looking finish, giving the car a deep, clean shine.
These benefits make foam cannons a valuable tool for achieving a high-quality, efficient, and safe car wash.
Two Process Types:
In automotive detailing there are two main types of foaming:
A) Pre-Rinsing with Foam:
Purpose: The goal of pre-rinsing with foam is to loosen and lift surface dirt and grime before the main wash. This step helps reduce the risk of scratching the paint during the wash process.
Foam Characteristics: For pre-rinsing, a foam that clings well to the surface is ideal. This allows the cleaning agents time to work on breaking down contaminants.
Soap Types: Use a foam-specific pre-wash or snow foam soap.
This can be either Acidic for removing mineral deposits, water spots, and brake dust OR Alkaline which is more effective for heavy-duty cleaning, such as removing grease, oil, road tar or film.
These are formulated to produce thick, clingy foam that effectively loosens dirt without necessarily providing a high level of lubrication needed for direct washing.
B) Washing with Foam:
Purpose: The main wash involves using foam to directly clean the vehicle's surface after the pre-rinse has removed the majority of loose contaminants.
Foam Characteristics: For washing, the foam should be both lubricating and effective at suspending and removing dirt.
Soap Types: Use a high-quality pH-Neutral car wash soap designed for use with foam cannons. These soaps create rich, lubricating foam that helps safely lift and remove dirt while washing, minimizing the risk of scratching and being gentle on waxes, sealants and ceramic coatings.
Both of these types contribute to a thorough and safe cleaning process, ensuring your vehicle’s paint remains in excellent condition.
Many detailing enthusiasts will do both, the foam pre-rinse and the foam wash, for the best practice possible.
Having multiple foam cannons for this type of wash process enhances and expedites the user experience.
With the Sooprinse Foam Cannon's low price, it's easy to dedicate one for pre-rinse (acidic/alkaline soaps) and another for
main wash (pH-neutral), minimizing cross-contamination and speeding up the back to back wash process.
Why Choose the Sooprinse Foam Cannon?:
Sooprinse specializes in affordable and budget minded car cleaning equipment, offering reliable tools like washer guns, nozzles,
and foam cannons for enthusiasts on a budget. The Sooprinse Foam Cannon, priced at just $19.99 (2025), stands out as a value-driven option
in the entry level price category. Unlike high end models like MJJC or MTM Hydro (~$100), this cannon produced more than enough foam
for my Toyota 4Runner, and I think most weekend detailers will be satisfied.
Its user friendly design and compatibility with standard pressure washers make it ideal for vehicle owners seeking an economical yet
effective detailing solution right out of the box.

Maintenance Tips
Rinse with clean water after use to avoid clogs from soap residue.
Let air dry with the cap off before reassembling for storage and store in a cool, dry place.
Handle the plastic bottle carefully to prevent breakage, as clear bottles are known to be more brittle than opaque HDPE types.
Note on Dilution Ratios
I always test my foam cannons' output to dial in the perfect soap to water mix for my vehicles wash routine.
I aim for a 2.0% panel impact ratio (PIR) on touchless washes and drop it to 0.5% for standard pH-neutral ones.
PIR is the final soap concentration hitting the vehicle surface after cannon dilution.
This testing also allows me to be consistent across foam cannon reviews.
If I simply put 2 ounces of product in every foam cannon, that would not give the same PIR since every cannon
will draw solution at different rates. But calculating a cannon’s native dilution rate allows me to adjust soap levels
to obtain the same consistent PIR (I use 0.5%) across tests.
To find a cannon’s native dilution rate, I fill it with 1,000ml of water, spray into a bucket, and measure the total output.
To dive deeper into the full details of how I calculate the Panel Impact Ratio (PIR), check out my
Foam Cannon Spreadsheet!
This tool lets you input your desired cannon load volume, and it automatically calculates the soap and water amounts.
For instance, if you’re planning a touchless wash covering the body, underbody, and wheels/tires, and estimate a 1000ml total load,
the spreadsheet will suggest 250ml of product and 750ml of water.
You can also adjust the PIR percentages as well to suit your needs. For example, lets say you want a 1.75% PIR with a 500ml total cannon volume
for your vehicle’s size and dirt level. It’ll output 109ml of product and 391ml of water. Perfect for customizing your wash!
Be sure to calculate your cannon’s native dilution rate, as factors like incoming water pressure, electrical amperage, and your
pressure washer's specs all affect your foam cannon's native dilution rate and resulting soap to water mix.
Review
The Sooprinse Foam Cannon is a standout budget option for automotive detailing.
It is my current top pick in the budget range.
Its transparent bottle in the standard 1000ml size with mint green nozzle and dark grey cap not only looks great, but allows for easy
monitoring of soap levels during washes. Additionally the bottle is marked with a clear and handy volume scale in ounces,
milliliters and dilution rates.
With a wide base, compact head and short quick connect fitting (o-ring type), this foam cannon is very stable, even when empty.
The large top opening makes it easy to fill.
The various adjustablity provides flexibility in foam density and spray patterns, producing quite decent foam when used with proper soap ratios.
Though not quite as thick as the most premium professional level foam cannons like MJJC, its close and the foam clings well for effective
pre-washing.
The 1/4" quick-connect comes pre installed and does not require teflon tape if you remove it.
It came with a microfiber wash mitt in neon green color. While somewhat smaller than a typical wash mitt, I think this is perfect for
washing wheels and is what I plan to use it for. You can always use another wheel mitt.
Durability seems very solid for the price, though I recommend handling with care to avoid drops, as clear PET bottles are known to be more brittle
than opaque HDPE types.
This came preinstalled with a 1.25mm orifice which is perfect for my Active 2.0 and many other prosumer pressure washers.
But please note that it does not come with any other orifices and that most entry level, lower GPM pressure washers will benefit from a
smaller 1.1mm orifice for maximum foam production.
While this is a solid budget foam cannon, you can modify it further for a better user experience without spending much.
This Aftermarket Upgrade Kit gives you two sets of parts (enough to upgrade two cannons):
a silicone draw tube with stainless steel weighted filter ball, a 3-piece (MJJC style) foam generator, and a stainless steel 1.1mm orifice.
Sure this is about 25% ($5) of the cost of the foam cannon itself, but if you really like this style cannon and perhaps are planning on
getting a matching set of two, it's a cheap way to squeeze out that last bit of extra performance, bringing it close to high end
models while keeping the total cost firmly in budget territory.
I purchased this aftermarket upgrade kit primarily for the more flexible silicone tube and weighted stainless steel filter ball.
For me that alone is worth the upgrade cost. The draw tube worked perfect with this cannon and while not as soft and flexible as the $15 one
sold by MJJC, it greatly improved this cannon for only $5. It moves around inside the cannon to assist with mixing and it picked up soap solution
down to nearly the last drop, even when held at an angle such as when foaming the roof or undercarriage. I did not use the 1.1mm orifice,
but if you need that, then this kit is a must. I did try the 3pc sandwich style foam generator, but since this cannon produced great
foam levels with its included foam generator, it did not provide notable improvement.
Overall, this foam cannon is a fantastic value for occasional budget minded detailers, delivering plenty of foam at a fraction of the
cost of high-end models.
