Concept:
Welcome to my review of various detailing supplies from That Detail Shop (TDS).
As automotive detailing continues to grow among both enthusiasts and professional operators, there has been increasing demand for premium
detailing accessories that deliver strong real world performance while still remaining reasonably priced. While many established detailing
brands focus heavily on large scale marketing and premium pricing, smaller enthusiast driven companies have increasingly begun offering
highly specialized products developed directly from real world detailing experience.
That Detail Shop represents one of the more interesting examples of this growing trend. Operated by “That Detail Guy”, a professional detailer
and content creator based in Georgia USA, the company focuses on enthusiast oriented detailing products designed around practical real world
use rather than marketing gimmicks. Through both his detailing business and YouTube presence, the company has developed a lineup of
products intended to provide strong performance, honest value and enthusiast focused usability.
The company’s stated mission is:
“To push detailing culture forward with better products, honest value, and a community that actually gives a damn.”
That philosophy immediately stood out and made the company particularly interesting to evaluate further.
Rather than simply rebranding generic detailing supplies, many of the products appear carefully selected and designed around functionality,
workflow efficiency and compatibility with modern detailing techniques.
This review takes a comprehensive look at several products from the That Detail Shop lineup including foam cannons, wash media,
microfiber towels, decontamination tools, interior scrubbers, drill brushes and pet hair removal tools.
Testing focuses not only on specifications and appearance, but also real world usability, ergonomics, material quality,
detailing workflow integration and overall value relative to more expensive enthusiast alternatives currently dominating the market.

Maintenance Tips
Avoid over-tightening the lid to protect the plastic threads.
Rinse with clean water after use to avoid clogs from soap residue.
Let air dry with the cap off before reassembling for storage and store in a cool, dry place.
Note on Dilution Ratios
I always test each foam cannon to determine its unique actual dilution behavior and dial in the correct soap to water mixture for
my wash routine. For touchless style pre washes I typically target a 1.5% to 2.0% Panel Impact Ratio (PIR).
For standard weekly maintenance washes using pH neutral soaps I usually target 0.5% PIR.
PIR represents the actual soap concentration that reaches the vehicle surface after the foam cannon has diluted the solution.
This is the number that actually matters when evaluating how strong the soap mixture is during washing.
To determine a foam cannon’s native dilution rate, I fill the bottle with 1,000 ml of plain water and spray the entire contents into
a bucket while the pressure washer is running. I then measure the total volume in the bucket.
This allows me to calculate how much the cannon dilutes the solution during use and provides a reliable baseline for determining
how much soap is needed to reach a specific PIR.
For precise calculations, you can use my
Foam Cannon Spreadsheet!
This allows you to input your cannon fill volume and target PIR and it will calculate the proper soap and water amounts automatically.
It is important to note that a foam cannon’s native dilution can vary depending on incoming water pressure, electrical amperage,
pressure washer performance, and overall system setup. Because of this, testing each cannon individually provides the most consistent results.
Testing Notes
This foam cannon will be tested using the following setup which is the basic configuration I continue to use for all foam cannon
evaluations on this website for consistency.
Pressure washer: Active 2.0 Pressure Washer
Foam cannon configuration: 1.25mm orifice included with the cannon
Soap: Chemical Guys Mr Pink Car Wash Shampoo
Dilution: Soap amount adjusted to ensure a 0.50% Panel Impact Ratio (PIR).
Pressure washer hose: Tutuluk 100' 3/8" steel braided smooth blue pressure washer hose mounted on a Cox hose reel Model 112-3-100
Trigger gun: Tutuluk pressure washer short swivel gun Pro
Review
The TDS Foam Cannon Pro V2.0 proved itself to be a genuinely premium foam cannon rather than simply another generic rebranded product.
During testing, the cannon delivered extremely thick foam with excellent dimpling and cling characteristics, placing it squarely within
the high end enthusiast category. Foam quality was comparable to some of the best performing foam cannons currently available, with stable
foam that remained on the vehicle throughout the contact wash process.
The included accessory package is one of the strongest aspects of the overall kit. The inclusion of two full size bottles, storage caps,
rubberized Welly boots, metering tips, and the concentrate bottle system creates a highly flexible setup capable of handling everything from
alkaline pre-washes to maintenance washes and dedicated wheel cleaning solutions.
Build quality was excellent throughout testing. The body remained totally leak free, adjustment controls operated smoothly, and the
weighted pickup tube functioned properly regardless of bottle orientation. The included 1.1mm orifice was easily replaced with a
1.25mm orifice for compatibility with the Active 2.0 pressure washer.
The only area that could potentially be refined is the concentrate bottle metering system. While the concept is excellent, the included
metering inserts are relatively close together in sizing and produced similar runtimes. A wider spread between metering options and some
longer runtime options would provide greater flexibility for wheel and tire cleaning applications. Even so, the system functioned well
and represents an innovative feature not commonly found on many competing foam cannons.
Overall, the TDS Pro V2.0 successfully delivers the premium foam cannon experience while offering a comprehensive accessory package
and strong value proposition. They look great and with the durable HDPE bottles should last a long time without issues.

Why This Product Was Selected?
The TDS Wash Mitt was selected because high quality wash media remains one of the most important aspects of safe contact washing.
One aspect of this review that will be especially interesting is comparing these high pile microfiber wash mitts against the chenille style
wash mitts that I have traditionally preferred and used for many years. Chenille mitts have long been popular due to their deep finger like
microfiber strands which do an excellent job of trapping dirt away from the paint surface while maintaining very good wash lubrication.
That said, high pile plush microfiber mitts such as the TDS Wash Mitt have become increasingly popular among both enthusiasts and professional
detailers because they offer an even softer contact surface along with a very smooth gliding feel across modern softer clear coat finishes.
The dense microfiber construction also appears capable of holding large amounts of wash solution while encapsulating contamination effectively
during maintenance washing.
The design also appeared extremely similar to the highly regarded Rag Company Cyclone Ultra Wash Mitt which has become one of the more popular
enthusiast wash mitts currently available. This created an excellent opportunity to evaluate whether similar performance could be achieved at
a more budget friendly price point.
Features
High pile premium microfiber construction
Plush deep fiber design
Soft paint safe microfiber material
Large wash surface area
Ergonomic mitt configuration
Elastic cuff stays secure on your hand throughout the wash
Durable stitching built for repeated use without breaking down
Benefits
High pile fibers help encapsulate dirt away from paint surfaces
Soft microfiber construction minimizes scratching and marring potential
Large surface area improves washing efficiency
Plush microfiber improves wash lubrication and glide
Comfortable mitt design improves usability during extended washing sessions

Technical Data
Brand: TDS
Product Name: TDS Wash Mitt
Product Type: Wash Mitt
Material: Premium High Pile Microfiber
Intended Use: Automotive Contact Washing
Configuration: Hand Mitt Style
Review
The TDS Wash Mitt performed exactly as hoped and reinforced why many professional detailers continue to prefer high pile microfiber wash media.
Compared to the traditional chenille wash mitts I am used to using, the microfiber fibers exhibited excellent softness and paint safe
characteristics while maintaining substantial water and soap carrying capacity.
The high pile construction allowed the mitt to glide smoothly across the paint while providing ample lubrication during the contact wash
process. The fibers effectively trapped contamination away from the paint surface and rinsed clean with minimal effort.
Perhaps most importantly, the mitt felt very similar in overall design and performance to significantly more expensive premium microfiber
wash mitts currently available on the market. For enthusiasts looking to transition away from chenille style mitts,
the TDS Wash Mitt represents an excellent value oriented alternative.
It will be especially interesting to determine whether these plush microfiber mitts provide measurable real world advantages over the
chenille style mitts that have been a long standing staple within my own wash process for many years.
Why This Product Was Selected?
The TDS Clay Towel was selected because synthetic clay alternatives have become increasingly popular due to their ability to dramatically
speed up paint decontamination compared to traditional clay bars while also offering greater durability and reusability.
For many years I have traditionally preferred using a real clay bar for annual paint decontamination, specifically the Griot’s Garage clay bar
system, typically prior to polishing, waxing or sealant application. Traditional clay bars remain extremely effective at removing
bonded contamination from paint surfaces and still provide a very controlled and tactile decontamination experience.
That said, conventional clay bars also come with several drawbacks. Their usable lifespan is limited because contaminants gradually become
embedded directly into the clay material itself over time. More importantly, if a clay bar is accidentally dropped onto the ground during use,
it generally must be discarded immediately since it can pick up abrasive dirt and debris that may scratch paint surfaces during continued use.
The TDS Clay Towel appeared especially interesting because its polymerized rubber decontamination surface can simply be rinsed clean and
reused repeatedly, potentially offering much greater long term durability and convenience compared to traditional clay bars.
Its microfiber backed construction combined with a large 12" x 12" working surface also suggested significantly faster decontamination
capability, particularly on larger vehicles such as SUVs and trucks, like my Toyota 4Runner, where conventional clay bar methods can become very time consuming.
Features
12" x 12" microfiber clay towel design
Polymerized rubber decontamination layer
Reusable synthetic clay surface
Large 12" x 12" working area
Flexible towel style construction
Designed for paint decontamination applications
Benefits
Faster decontamination compared to traditional clay bars
Reusable design improves long term value
Large surface area improves workflow efficiency
Flexible towel design conforms well to body panels
Removes bonded surface contaminants from paint surfaces
Easier handling compared to small traditional clay bars

Review
The TDS Clay Towel successfully demonstrated the primary advantages that have made synthetic decontamination media increasingly popular among
enthusiasts and professionals alike. Compared to traditional clay bars, the ability to rinse contamination away from the polymerized
rubber surface provides a significant usability advantage while reducing concerns associated with accidentally dropping the media on the ground.
During testing, the towel effectively removed bonded contamination while remaining easy to handle across larger panel areas.
The microfiber backing provided a secure grip and helped improve overall control during the decontamination process.
For users accustomed to traditional clay bars, the TDS Clay Towel offers a practical and reusable alternative that can dramatically extend
service life while reducing waste and replacement costs.
Why This Product Was Selected?
The TDS 1600 DT Drying Towel immediately stood out due to its extremely high 1600 GSM construction which is higher than the
1300 GSM towel I tried from Crystal Clean and the 1500 GSM towel I tried from Automaniacs, both which worked really well.
The 1600 GSM construction combined with a dual twisted loop microfiber weave, both of which are commonly associated with premium drying towel
performance. Proper drying towels remain one of the most important components within a safe wash process since poor drying techniques
can easily introduce unnecessary marring into even well maintained paint finishes.
For many years I relied heavily on touchless drying methods using a dedicated leaf blower in order to minimize physical contact
with the paint surface as much as possible. While this method works extremely well for protected vehicles, especially those with
strong hydrophobic behavior, it can also become somewhat time consuming and may still leave standing water on larger flat surfaces
long enough for spotting to begin developing during warmer conditions.
More recently, I have started moving toward a hybrid drying approach where a large high quality microfiber drying towel is first used to
quickly remove the majority of standing water from the vehicle immediately after rinsing. The leaf blower is then used afterward as a
secondary finishing step in order to remove trapped water from areas that towels cannot easily access such as grilles, mirror housings,
trim gaps, emblems, body panel seams and wheel hardware.
The TDS 1600 DT appeared especially well suited for this type of workflow due to its large size, extremely high microfiber density and dual
twisted loop construction which should allow for rapid water absorption with minimal dragging resistance across the paint surface.
The towel also appeared capable of reducing the amount of overall towel passes needed during drying which can further minimize potential
marring on softer clear coat finishes.
Features
Dual twisted loop microfiber weave
1600 GSM microfiber construction
Large 20" x 30" size
Soft premium microfiber material
High absorbency design
Green exterior finish
Benefits
High GSM construction improves water absorption capability
Twisted loop weave reduces drag across paint surfaces
Large size improves drying efficiency on larger vehicles
Soft microfiber minimizes marring potential
Suitable for maintenance washes and protected surfaces
Reduces need for excessive wiping pressure
Technical Data
Brand: TDS
Product Type: Drying Towel
Dimensions: 20" x 30"
Material: Dual Twisted Loop Microfiber
GSM Rating: 1600 GSM
Color: Green
Review
The TDS 1600 DT quickly established itself as one of the most impressive drying towels evaluated to date. With its substantial 1600 GSM
dual twisted loop construction, the towel demonstrated exceptional absorbency and drying efficiency. A single towel was capable of drying
the entire vehicle with capacity remaining to spare.
As my drying process continues to evolve away from exclusive reliance on a leaf blower, this towel proved ideal for quickly removing
the majority of standing water before water spotting can occur. Once the bulk water is removed, a blower can then be used to evacuate
trapped water from mirrors, grilles, emblems, body seams, and other more difficult to reach areas.
For enthusiasts seeking maximum drying performance, the TDS 1600 DT belongs firmly within the premium towel category.
Why This Product Was Selected?
The TDS 1400 MF Hybrid Towel was selected because its dual sided construction appeared particularly versatile for detailing applications
requiring multiple towel textures within a single product. The combination of twisted loop and waffle weave surfaces suggested strong
usability across several finishing and maintenance detailing tasks while also helping reduce the total number of towels needed during a
typical wash process.
While large dedicated drying towels are excellent for removing the majority of standing water from exterior paint surfaces,
there is still typically a secondary finishing stage afterward where additional towels become extremely useful for addressing late water
drips and smaller detail areas. This hybrid towel appeared especially well suited for that type of final finishing role within the wash process.
My primary intended use for this towel will be as a dedicated secondary drying and finishing towel following the main drying step.
The twisted loop side will primarily be used for catching delayed water drips along body seams as well as drying door jambs, trunk jambs,
underhood areas, wheels and other locations where residual water commonly continues draining after the main drying process is completed.
The waffle weave side appears particularly well suited for final window and glass cleaning due to its tighter weave structure which typically
performs very well for streak free glass finishing.
The compact size also appeared ideal for maneuvering into tighter areas where larger drying towels become cumbersome or difficult to control.
Combined with its softer microfiber construction and hybrid functionality, the towel appeared capable of serving as a very versatile
finishing towel within a modern detailing workflow.
Features
Hybrid dual sided towel construction
One twisted loop microfiber side
One waffle weave microfiber side
80/20 microfiber blend
Compact versatile towel sizing
Dual texture functionality
Benefits
Dual sided design improves versatility
Twisted loop side improves water absorption
Waffle weave side assists with streak free wiping
Compact size useful for detail spray and final wipe applications
Soft microfiber construction minimizes scratching potential
Multi purpose towel suitable for several detailing tasks
Technical Data

Product Type: Hybrid Microfiber Towel
Dimensions: 14.5" x 14.5"
Material Blend: 80/20 Microfiber
Construction: Twisted Loop and Waffle Weave Hybrid
Review
The TDS 1400 MF Hybrid Towel proved to be an excellent complement to the larger 1600 DT drying towel. The combination of a twisted loop
drying side and waffle weave glass side creates a highly versatile towel capable of handling multiple post wash tasks.
During testing, the twisted-loop side performed exceptionally well for catching delayed drips, wiping door jambs, cleaning underhood
and hatch areas, and drying wheels. The waffle weave side then provided a dedicated surface for final streak free glass cleaning.
Rather than relying on multiple specialized towels, the hybrid design consolidates several common detailing tasks into a single product,
making it a particularly practical addition to any detailing arsenal.

Review
The TDS Scrubby was one of the more surprising products within the lineup. While its appearance suggests a simple interior scrub pad,
actual performance proved impressive. Combined with an interior cleaner, the nylon scrubbing surface generated substantial cleaning action
and removed significantly more embedded contamination than initially expected.
The compact design allowed easy access to dashboards, door panels, trim pieces, and other textured interior surfaces.
The integrated finger loop improved control while helping prevent accidental drops during use.
For enthusiasts seeking a simple but highly effective interior agitation tool, the TDS Scrubby represents an excellent addition to an

Review
The TDS DBK Drill Brush Kit proved highly effective at tackling heavier cleaning tasks where manual agitation alone may not be sufficient.
Mounted to a drill, the brushes quickly deep cleaned rubber floor mats and removed embedded contamination that would have been difficult to
address through conventional washing methods alone.
The upholstery brush was equally impressive, extracting surprising amounts of embedded dust and dirt from interior fabrics that
initially appeared clean.
For enthusiasts looking to expand their interior and floor mat cleaning capabilities,
the DBK kit provides substantial cleaning power at a very reasonable cost.
Why This Product Was Selected?
Pet hair removal remains one of the more frustrating and time consuming aspects of interior detailing, particularly on carpeted and

Three piece pet hair removal kit
Multiple pet hair removal tool styles
Designed for carpet and upholstery use
Compact detailing tool sizes
Reusable cleaning tools
Benefits
Helps loosen embedded pet hair from carpets and upholstery
Multiple tools improve versatility across different interior surfaces

Technical Data
Brand: TDS
Product Name: TDS PHK Pet Hair Kit
Product Type: Pet Hair Removal Kit
Included Pieces: 3
Review
Although the test vehicle did not contain significant pet hair contamination, the TDS PHK Pet Hair Kit demonstrated promising functionality
throughout evaluation. The kit provides three specialized tools including a rake, brush, and multi tooth comb style tool designed to
address a variety of pet hair removal scenarios.
The tools also proved capable of removing lint and other surface debris, providing utility beyond pet hair removal alone.
The molded handles were comfortable to use and appeared durable enough for repeated service.
While future testing on more heavily contaminated vehicles would be beneficial, initial impressions suggest this is a thoughtfully
assembled and high quality kit.
That Detail Shop represents exactly the type of company that I enjoy featuring on Top4Runners.com. Rather than relying on flashy marketing
or excessive branding, the company appears focused on offering practical detailing products that solve real world problems while remaining
fairly priced. Operated by a fellow detailing enthusiast and professional detailer, many of the products clearly reflect firsthand experience
rather than simply following industry trends. This company has improved their offerings over time and the lineup they offer now is
very competitive.
What impressed me most throughout this review series was the consistency of the lineup. It is common to find one or two standout products
within a brand, but considerably less common to find an entire collection where nearly every product performs as intended.
From the premium TDS Foam Cannon Pro V2.0 and highly absorbent drying towels to the Scrubby, Drill Brush Kit, and Pet Hair Kit,
each product offered legitimate utility within a modern detailing workflow.
The TDS Foam Cannon Pro V2.0 was the clear standout product and, in my opinion, successfully competes with some of the best enthusiast
foam cannons currently available while providing an impressive accessory package and overall value.
The microfiber products also performed exceptionally well, particularly the 1600 DT Drying Towel, which ranks among the most capable
drying towels I have tested to date.
Overall, That Detail Shop has assembled a thoughtful collection of detailing products that should appeal to both enthusiasts and
professionals. If the company's future releases maintain the same balance of performance, usability, and value demonstrated here,
I suspect we will continue hearing much more about That Detail Shop in the years ahead.
